Today there are more than 300 tourist operating license holders in the kingdom. Ever since privatisation in early 90s more and more
people have been applying for tourist-operating license. 2006 records show that out of the 300 plus license holders  165 companies
brought in tourists ranging from a single tourist to 2,639 tourists.

Statistics show that only about  40 companies do a profitable business while the rest do it for additional/secondary income.

There are no illegal tour operators in Bhutan and tourism is strictly monitored by the Royal Government of Bhutan.

2006 tourism statistics show Adventure Bhutan as one of the top 15 companies in the kingdom in terms of revenue generation.
